Helsinki, January 2024: Nordhealth, the Helsinki-based healthcare software company supporting over 55,000 healthcare professionals worldwide, has announced that it has officially received ISO/IEC 27001 certification in Finland, the international standard for information security and privacy.

The certification underscores Nordhealth’s dedication to safeguarding the sensitive data that it handles every day on behalf of its software users, including privately identifiable information and medical records of countless pet-owner clients and their pets.

Nordhealth CEO Charles Macbain said, “I'm excited to share a significant milestone in our journey towards excellence in data security and privacy. Our decision to embrace the ISO/IEC 27001 standard is more than a procedural upgrade; it's a reflection of our unwavering commitment to creating products that meet the highest standards of security.”

With the introduction of the Information Security Management System (ISMS), which is integral to ISO/IEC 27001, Nordhealth is able to seamlessly integrate robust security controls into its core business processes.

Macbain called the certification “just the beginning” of Nordhealth’s vision to extend rigorous security standards across all of its global operations, ensuring “world-class security across our product portfolio,” he said. That roadmap includes further enhancing the security features of its flagship products as well as upgrading the company’s incident response capability to embrace large-scale security events and going passwordless.

In a message to Nordhealth employees, Macbain emphasized collective responsibility as a key component of upholding the ISO/IEC 27001 accreditation. “Ultimately, the success of our security initiatives hinges on fostering a culture of security and privacy awareness,” he said. “I encourage us all to embrace this responsibility in our daily tasks and interactions. Together, we can ensure that Nordhealth remains a bastion of trust and security in our industry.”
