How Norets Hestepraksis gained cloud flexibility with Provet

“The fact that you know the system I’m going from and the system I’m going to…makes me feel safe as a customer.” Sisse Holm-Thomsen, owner and veterinarian, Norets Hestepraksis
Norets Hestepraksis, a small equine practice in central Denmark, moved from a server-based system to Provet in 2022 and now runs its calendar, invoicing, and patient records from anywhere.
Veterinarian Sisse Holm-Thomsen founded Norets Hestepraksis in 2010 and, for most of the decade that followed, ran it on Vetvision, a server-based practice management system. Much of her work happens on the road, between stables and paddocks across central Denmark, so when steady growth let her bring on a second veterinarian, Clara Storm Leth, in May 2022, the limits of a server-bound system began to show. The practice went live on Provet in the winter of that year.
A server-bound system that couldn’t keep up on the road

Sisse spends much of her working day in her car. Between appointments she pulls into a parking lot, opens her tablet, updates charts, and finalizes invoices before driving on to the next patient. “I really rely on remote access to my practice software,” she says.
The old system made that harder than it needed to be. It worked well enough while she practiced largely on her own. But with two veterinarians now covering everything from lameness workups and dental treatment to reproduction and minor surgery, mostly out at the yard, the shared calendar had grown busy and hard to coordinate. It lacked the tools for a more complex schedule, and it didn’t let her work comfortably across the different devices she used through the day. Then, as Sisse puts it, “the opportunity came along to switch to a smoother system.”
Why Norets Hestepraksis chose Provet

Sisse didn’t have to look far. Provet, a cloud-based system, had recently become available in Denmark through the same provider she already knew, and her Vetvision account manager, Helle Wied, told her about it.
For Sisse, that continuity mattered as much as the technology. “Because I had been working well with Helle for so long,” she says, “I knew it would be better for me to choose a new system that wouldn’t require me to build a whole new relationship.” Her instinct was to move quickly: “The faster we could get to Provet, the better.”
Keeping the same people made the transition feel safe. Both Sisse and her assistant carried a full patient load throughout, and there were moments when they still needed to open the old system to retrieve information. “When there were issues I couldn’t resolve, it was so reassuring to have Helle who can access everything and who knows both systems.” The customer support team stayed the same too. “Because they know both systems and already know us and where our problems would be – even where it might be difficult when we start on Provet – makes me feel safe as a customer.”
What changed day to day

Moving to the cloud changed the small, repeated tasks that fill an equine veterinarian’s day.
Much of that day now runs from her phone. Sisse uses Provet Mobile to work between visits: she can see the upcoming treatments and actions for each patient, mark treatment actions complete as she goes, and let invoices update automatically, all from her device. The app can also show stock location and batch numbers for treatment items, keeping that detail with her in the field.
Booking is one of the clearest examples. Sisse and her assistant now manage the calendar remotely and together, so there’s less back-and-forth and fewer clashes. “It’s nice that when we have a patient that requires both of us, I can book that appointment without the risk of double-booking ourselves.” They also color-code appointments by type, which makes the day easy to read at a glance.
Finding a patient got easier too. In a rural practice, locating the right barn can take time; the Google Maps view built into the patient record helps point the way.
Payments improved too. Invoicing and payment tools take less manual effort than before now Sisse is using Provet Pay, and clients prefer paying electronically. “They are quite okay to pay via Provet Pay, and they’re generally faster to send payment now.” Reordering is simpler, because supplier pricing now lives in the system. “I like that now I can access my suppliers through Provet and see the most up-to-date pricing.”
Still learning in the saddle
Sisse is the first to say she’s always finding new features in Provet. Learning a new system while running a busy practice takes time, and she expects to keep finding the shortcuts that let her spend less time on admin, whether she’s parked between calls or standing in a barn. With the same sales and support people alongside her, she’s confident those gains will keep coming. And because Provet is cloud-based, it has room to grow as the practice does.
